This is how I walk in video games! As well as some frequently asked questions!
I have two apps on my phone in my pocket, one that makes me move forward in game when I walk in place, and the other that counts my steps! Both apps have 7-day free trials, so be sure to try them out if you want to do this!
One of them is Stepl! This is the cheapest and easiest way to walk in games. If you put your phone in your pocket and walk in place, it presses W on your keyboard! This is Android only, and only for PC games, primarily with keyboard and mouse. Here is a guide on YouTube I made for setting it up!
The other app is reWASD! This is the most customizable way to walk in games. This one is a little bit more complicated to set up, but basically it uses your phone's gyroscope (motion detector) to press whatever you want to use to go forward on a PC game! This one is for Android and iOS and can be for keyboard and mouse or controller! Here is a guide on YouTube I made for a more basic usage of it!
If you are wanting to use this for casual games, or just a casual walk around a game world, then I recommend Stepl! It is so much simpler to set up and use, but you can only go forward, and it only works for PC games. The only thing I recommend for this is a Standing Desk!
If you are wanting to use this for more difficult games, or even PVP games, then I recommend reWASD! You can even
I have made some reWASD configurations for my setups here!
I use Stepl to count my steps, and I use reWASD for the actual walking in game since I am usually playing games that require a bit more control. But if I am doing a casual walk or run in a game, then I will just use Stepl!

I've not been able to figure out a good way to do this reliably, unfortunately! So as of right now, sprinting in game is just by holding the sprint button.
Yes! But I don't use it much. I played the original Mario with this setup!
Because when I start and stop moving in real life, I start and stop moving in game! So it would have to be a manual treadmill, and those are expensive! So I usually only use This Treadmill if I am walking or running across a game, and the rest of the time I either just jog in place or use my Mini Elliptical
For a few reasons! VR gives me major motion sickness, even with a setup like this. Additionally, my current PC could not handle the games, and VR, and streaming all at the same time! Although I think VR is a great way to have a super immersive way to exercise and play video games.
